hypnotherapy Hypnotherapy is a technique that uses hypnosis to access the subconscious mind and the deeper aspects of the brain, namely the hypothalamus, the medula oblongata, and the corpus callosum. It is in these areas of the brain that emotions, memory, and instincts lie, and the motivations we are ordinarily unaware of. Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness and hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for a specifice goal such as weight management, smoking cessation, improved academic or athletic performance, and removal of emotional and psychological blocks. Hypnosis provides access to the subconscious so that goals are achieved quickly and directly. Alchemical Hypnotherapy* combines the humanistic and spiritual perspective of the alchemical process with the goal reaching methods of hypnotherapy. The process draws upon Jungian psychology, Eriksonian Hypnosis techniques, NLP, and Gestalt therapy in combination with the powerful tool of hypnosis. The alchemical process helps to identify and accept different and often opposing personalities such as the 'inner judge' and the 'inner child'. Alchemy resolves conflicts between these inner characters or 'subpersonalities' by connecting one to guidance from one's own higher self. This insures that the suggestions a client receives spring from his or her own inner guidance. As a result, suggestions are more individual and less likely to be met with resistance than in other forms of hypnotherapy.
