Planetary Patrol What is Going On?
Astrology is akin to the art of Sacred Geometry. It teaches us that our emotions and our ‘drama’ are connected to higher dimensions, namely the 6th dimension. Geometric planetary patterns hold a key to conflict resolution and emotional alignment with our more perfect (divine) selves.
Saturn opposite Uranus November 2008 - July 2010
The world is now entering into a large planetary pattern, exact for the first time on November 4th, 2008!! This pattern stays in place and is repeated four more times before July 2010 when it then begins to recede. Saturn, the planet of security, stability and the established, is opposing (180 degrees) Uranus, the planet of change, revolution, and freedom. We see this in America, the world, and in our lives as we try to maintain stability in changing circumstances. Essentially these planets in opposition create tremendous tension, hence the need now to manage stress. The principles involved are need to keep things the same (and keep them going) and the need to change and be freer. Caught between these impulses can feel like being in a vice. Reflecting this in the presidential campaigns is the reiterated contrast between ‘change’ and ‘experience’. As we move through 2010, the planet Pluto gets involved forming a ‘square’ (90 degree angle) to both of these planets, Saturn and Uranus making a very dramatic configuration. The last time these three planets were in similar formation was from 1964-1968 when revolutionary and reactionary impulses were reflected in our culture. The polarized tensions served to accelerate cultural change and development. Proceeding this 1964-1968 time period, they were in similar alignment from 1929-1933. Although those were difficult times, Saturn and Uranus do suggest some choices. The clashes represented are between: Old-new; past-future; tradition-innovation; stability-freedom; conservative-progressive; established authority – newly empowered counter culture impulses. What has come from these clashes in the past? Has not the Vietnam War taught us a new approach to international engagement? Did not the Civil Rights Movement enrich and make more real the constitution? Did not the depression inform us about the power of fear? Yet once again we struggle between the old, tried and true, and the new – unknown!! Now we have the unforeseen consequences of technological development as well as decentralized warfare with ‘cells’. But if we approach new dynamics with old strategy, we sink deeper, and stress increases. So it is with our personal lives. Whether it be stock investments, job security, safety in the ‘American Way’, changing definition of marriage and family, or a pride in open borders (‘the melting pot’) , there is a strong need for change and also a strong holding on to past stability. Part of the populace, namely conservative, voices the need for tradition and polarizes the other part of our populace, the liberal, voicing the need for innovation. Yet on closer examination of ourselves we are challenged to look inside and see the war within. As one pulls out of the blame game the challenge presented is to examine the clash in ourselves between safety and progress. Essentially the power to balance and bring peace to these opposites lies within each and every one of us. As some may say, ‘politics is in the individual’.
The first Saturn/Uranus opposition was on November 4th, 2008. How fitting! The four other oppositions occur on 2/5/09, 9/15/09, 4/26/10, 7/26/10. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd oppositions are likely to be felt more personally by people born in the later half of the signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. The last two are likely to be felt more personally by those born early in the signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Although the added dynamic of Pluto is beyond the scope of this article, for those who are interested, the squares from Saturn and Uranus to Pluto begin in November of 2009 and continue until the middle of 2015 and occur in the signs of Aries, Libra, and Capricorn. Celebrate a Powerful Winter Solstice! December 21, 2008, 7:04 AM EST
As the Sun moves south and reaches the Tropic of Capricorn near December 21st, we arrive at the most mystical time of the year – a time to look at the past nine months (since the Vernal Equinox on March 21st) and evaluate.
What have we learned since March 21st?
How have we done with what we started then?
How do we want to finish this cycle?
The dominant planetary factor of this year’s Solstice is the power packed joining of the Sun to Pluto at the beginning of Capricorn.
The qualities suggested by this union are:
Personal power Rulership Leadership Regeneration Consolidation of one’s position Advancement
People born at different times of the year may experience these qualities in different departments of life. Here is a very simplified and generalized guide for the 12 signs*.
Aries: Career can dominate concerns now; power people can challenge you and/or you can become one of the power people!
Taurus: Communication and education fields hold power and mastery for you. How about taking a class? Or teaching one?
Gemini: Take a serious look at your investments and resources and take control- or get qualified advice.
Cancer: Other people may overpower you now but if you can discern the true leader you can benefit.
Leo: You may want to harness powerful forces in your work place now. Take some control over your health.
Virgo; Children may have a powerful impact; honor the greatness in the young ones. For others this is a time for creative advancement.
Libra: Home situations or family issues may dominate now. Problems that arise can stem from childhood beliefs about yourself.
Scorpio: Mastering communication or learning skills might not be a bad idea. Circulate your ideas with community and siblings.
Sagittarius: Step into your own shoes and know your value. Embrace what you have and take care of it. If you doubt yourself; it will only lead to waste.
Capricorn: You ascend into some power now as your study and diligence pay off. Be willing to share with others how you did it.
Aquarius: Take some time alone to for spiritual life and connection. Avoid giving negative thoughts any power; instead, contemplate your inner power.
Pisces: A powerful friend(s) or group can help you now to actualize some dream and/or goal of yours. Let someone guide you.
*Note: Please be aware astrology is complex and any assessment based on dividing the population into twelve segments is naive. One’s horoscope depends on many factors and can be determined with one’s birth date, time, and place. These comments are designed to relay the principle involved and shed some light on this time period.
SIGNS OF THE TIMES T- Square with Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto November 2009 - March 2015
The synchronicity of the heavens to what lies below, here, on earth, is a gift given full of wisdom. Yet each configuration of planets, like each situation on earth, is new – like never before. That is why astrological predictions are always arbitrary – they always involve an element of guess work! Yet the configurations for our present day leave some things as certainties. An amazing ‘T-square’ (two planets at 180 degrees angle from each other and a third planet at a 90 degree angle to both) is into formation now. These planets were last in such dramatic alignment (though with some differences) from 1964-1968. The preceding similar configuration before that was between 1929-1933 (but lasted in influence in part throughout the 30’s) Great polarized tensions combined with power struggles and reactionary responses contribute to greatly accelerate cultural change now. These past periods (30’s & 60’s) attest to the power, challenge and transformative nature of these forces. The combination imposes upon humanity to expand its ability to creatively resolve intensely opposing forces. The microcosmic perspective contributes to the outcomes of the macrocosm. How we, as individuals, handle our own tensions, fears, and powers, contributes to how collective resolution of differences will go. Of major consideration now is the Uranus/Pluto square in this configuration, which will be in place until 2020. Cultural developments can resemble that of the 60’s – but with different players. What is the same is the intense impulse for radical social change, cultural creativity, rapid developments in technology, scientific advancement, powerful revolutionary, progressive reformations, ecology and nature consciousness, just to name a few. We should also see changes in the global balance of power. It is as if we, as a species, are infused with an intense ‘will to power’ (for yay or nay) and at the same time, with an incredible acceleration of human experience. Typically we have wars with these combos, but we already have that! The reason this combination of energies is dangerous is because humanity, to date, has not grown in consciousness past its tendency to project the dark and fearful onto one another, which leads to the promotion of separateness, hence war, strife, and disrespect for another’s ‘person and property’. Earthquakes (often synchronous with Saturn/Pluto aspects) can be seen as the earth’s response to lack of respect for the ‘person and property’ of the earth itself. All is connected. Each of us contributes in our own way by projecting onto family, friends, community, and the world. When projection leads to stereotyping by race, religion, or nationality rather than individual merit, this suggests one’s own inability to see themselves beyond their own race, religion, and nationality – to see their own individual merit – to ‘be their own person’. To take the most destructive combination of planets, Saturn and Pluto, especially with the added ingredient of Uranus to a higher level, there needs to be creative ways to bring about the constructive use of our power for needed change. Crucial here is the recognition that we are getting back what we have put in. From there, without self blame, taking steps to recognize our weaknesses and taking steps to correct them. Saturn and Uranus have been in opposition since November 2008 (read more) and remain throughout most of 2010. Pluto is now in the picture and made the first exact square with Saturn on 11/15/09, then again on 1/31/10. Uranus and Pluto, though now within orb of influence, make their exact squares on 6/24/12, 9/12/12, then 5 more squares, the last one being on 3/16/15. By Jesie Len Gallagher The Inside Story
