This eclipse is a
Total Solar Eclipse and is the longest eclipse of this century,
occurring at 29 degrees of Cancer, 26 minutes with a span across Asia,
from India, across Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, China, then partially on
to the Japanese islands and the Pacific.
These parts of
the world will experience significant changes over the next several
months. But the world in general will be profoundly impacted as well.
The 29th degree of any sign is considered a ‘critical degree’ and the
29th degree in the sign of Cancer has been called the ‘millionaire’s
degree’ which suggests very significant economic ramifications from this
eclipse. Of particular emphasis will be home security, the homeless,
maternity, housing, and children; the changes in these areas will be
impacted for seven years.
Personally this
eclipse may mark an end to any dysfunctional caretaking. If taking care
of others and others problems, errands, duties, health, etc interrupts
one’s destiny or ‘dharma’, then this may mark a time of ending that
behavior. Even if your caretaking is not particularly dysfunctional it
can still mark a time when it becomes necessary to carry on with your
own particular destiny.
One of the major
features of the eclipse chart is a Jupiter/Neptune conjunction at 24 and
25 degrees of Aquarius. This conjunction is actually with us all summer
and promises some very far reaching and positive shifts in humanity’s
values, and behaviors. One cannot help but imagine this to be a
spiritual influence that can change reality as it changes our minds. The
down side can be the proliferation of drugs in our culture but the need
to replace them with a spiritual shot in the arm can be recognized by
the important parties.
I feel the eclipse will have a lot to do
with relationships and showing us where there is a lack of love and a
need to get more connected to authentic feelings (Venus square Saturn).
Pluto’s dominance in early Capricorn speaks of the powerful influence of
government involvements now, for yay or nay. With Mercury and Mars in a
close sextile, the fields of communication and travel lend many
solutions, even miracles, to desperate problems. We need to talk to each
other and see how each other lives! So polish up your skills with cell
phones, email, web cams, net surfing, etc. and know more of other
cultures - real gifts can come with greater communication, during these
times.
Needless to say Cancers and Capricorns will
see some big changes in the direction of their lives. Balancing the
home/work situations may be difficult and require some finesse. Libra
and Aries people can also be put on alert for some rerouting, and face
some conflicting interests. The mutable signs, Gemini, Virgo,
Sagittarius, and Pisces, can take some losses or restrictions but find
some resource by expanding their circle of influence, whether that is
friends, family, or career field. Think out of the box and leave the
past.
The Sun/Moon
conjunction of this eclipse is in trine to Uranus so one can safely say-
‘Changes – Full steam ahead’. For those resisting change, struggle is
futile. Life ahead of us is not going by the rules behind us.
Altruism
has a new day, and brings great promise in this time. How can it be
true for you?
